Hi, my name is Susan N. Smith. I am an education major at the University of South Alabama. I am from Excel, Alabama which is an extremely small farming town. I plan to teach math to students in way that will make them love it rather than hate it.

Are we Becoming Reader/Writers or Listener/Watchers?

As society develops further and further forward, the way we learn information changes. Used to teachers taught through reading and writing alone. The students was to read the material and write about it to show what they had retained for use. Now as society makes more and more technological advances we see technology affecting education. We now see educational videos in the classroom and on the internet. We see the internet being used to access information rather than the books that have been used for so long.
Students are now learning things more from listening and watching now rather than from reading and writing. Classrooms are focusing more on the use of technology to discover what you need at the time quickly, rather than focusing on retaining information in the brain for later use. Education is getting away from reading and writing and moving toward technology usage. Students are not to worry about reading and retaining information for later, they are to just be sure that they can find information through technology when they need it.
