Hi, my name is Susan N. Smith. I am an education major at the University of South Alabama. I am from Excel, Alabama which is an extremely small farming town. I plan to teach math to students in way that will make them love it rather than hate it.

The use of Google in the Classroom

In our society today students are using the computer and internet from the beginning of their educational experience. Google has come out with many free services that will help students with things like power point presentations, excel spreadsheets, and word documents. It will also allow the students to communicate with their teachers outside of school. Teachers can also create homepages on I-Google with different activities posted for the students to participate in. Google is also a search engine that will enable students to look up information very easily.
Google is also a site that can be pulled up at school. Many filtering systems block most websites, but Google is not one of them. Google also provides a free e-mail account so that students can turn in assignments online rather than having to print them out and bringing them to class. There are still many bugs to be worked out in the Google tools but in the long run it could be a very useful tool for students and teachers.
